Test Post 4

Features for Posts Test

Another post that is simply for testing layout designs again. This post will test various design features that will automate providing readers with a better reader experience on my sites. The features to be tested on this page will be an auto generated table of contents, as well as customized share buttons.

Testing the Table of Contents Generator

The table of contents javascript needs to be tested to ensure that a table of contents can be automatically placed in a post that could use a table of contents to provide the reader a better experience.
In order to test the Javascript we need to create several headings, possibly even a bunch of text so that the content can extend below the fold.  In order to provide some extra text for this test we will test the share button generator as well. Testing the share buttons as well not only will help provide more text but more importantly is an extra and header element or two.

On the desktop, this table of contents should appear at the right side of the side of the post. On mobile, the table of contents should appear at the top..

Test the Image Share Button Generator

Adding customized share buttons to a post can be quite time consuming so I wanted to automate this process as well. In order to test the share button generator for the images the image needs to be larger than 150 in width and height.

I have set the size to be extra large just to be sure the image would be noticed by the share button generator and should display share buttons near the image.

Automated Features on Blogger

Blogger doesn't make automating things easy. Infact, Blogger's parsing engine can be a  major pain in the neck, making you fight with it for hours on end.  Still trying to get the table of contents to appear on the posts that could use one without habmving to manually code and type it in would be wll worth it.

Code, Test, Repeat

If I can get these two automations working, that will open the door to more automated features.  So enduring the pain in the neck blogger parsing engine, I  relentlessly check my code, and add more text with header elements to this page. Test to see if it worked, and if not, then try again.

This Test is Finished

We now have a few different types of headings so hopefully there will be a Table of Contents positioned to the right of the page.
